What are cookies

Cookies are small text files that the websites you visit save on your device; similar technologies (such as the browser's local storage) serve the same purpose. On this page we call them all “cookies”.

Categories and services

• Necessary (always active): required for the website to work: shopping cart, chosen language, access to the customer area and storing your cookie choice. They do not require consent.
• Analytics (optional): Google Analytics 4, provided by Google, for statistical measurement of visits and use of the shop. The service is not loaded until you enable this category.
• Marketing (optional): Meta Pixel (Meta Platforms), Klaviyo (on-site tools) and UpPromote (affiliate tracking), to measure the results of ads and affiliate programmes and to personalise content and ads. These services are not loaded until you enable this category.

How the choice works

On your first visit a banner offers “Accept all”, “Reject optional” and “Customise”. Until you choose, optional categories stay disabled: scrolling, clicking elsewhere or closing a window does not count as consent. Your choice is saved in your browser for 6 months; after that, or if the saved choice cannot be read, you will be asked again.

Changing or withdrawing consent

You can change your choice at any time with the “Cookie preferences” button, available in the footer of every page and below. If you withdraw a category, the page is reloaded to stop services already running and, where technically possible, the known cookies of those services set on our domain are deleted. Your shopping cart and language stay unchanged. You can also delete cookies from your browser settings.

Newsletter

Subscribing to the newsletter is separate from the cookie choice: it only happens if you enter your email address in the dedicated form. Accepting cookies does not subscribe you to anything.

Checkout

Payment takes place on the checkout page managed by Shopify (checkout.Lab.life). When you save or change your choice with the buttons in the banner or in the preferences, this website passes it on to Shopify through its Customer Privacy API, which is loaded from Shopify only after your choice, so that the checkout can apply it; Shopify's "preferences" category is not granted. Passing it on may fail, for example because of an error or if the page is closed or reloaded before it completes: in that case, or if you make a different choice with Shopify's tools, the checkout applies the settings recorded by Shopify. In some areas Shopify shows its own banner at checkout. The checkout always remains available.
